Appreciate your comments

I don't think any builder/contractor wants to hang around in the long term. Many have to be nudged and urged to do so.

Davis has been around a long time and I have not heard anything negative like about some of the other national production builders. I have looked at several of their developments and like a lot of features and price. Caveat: Each development is very differnet in features and they do houses at a huge range of price points. They even used to do custom houses on your lot.
Never got to the point of contract because I would prefer a fully completed neighborhood with the landscaping already done and a lot of owner added features.

The new CEO of Davis Homes is Brad Davis, one fine person. He's honest, dependable and will back his homes.

I looked them up, Davis is one of the lowest rated home builders on Angie's List. Some very bitter, negative comments about them. If you build or buy, look to drive a hard bargain. Builders are somewhat desperate for customers.
I would not build a new home inside Marion County, what with the taxes and the crime. I live here for proximity reasons.

Brad Davis is a great person and he's never gone back on his word with me. That I can attest to.
I don't expect home sales in Marion County to become brisk anytime soon after the huge tax increases there.

my parents went with Davis homes and they have had nothing but trouble from the beginning. Davis hired sub contractors to build the house some of the issues-trash left in the yard by the builders (empty muriatic acid bottles), they didnt use the right insulation in the crawl space and had to reinstall, moisture under the house has caused the wood floors to seperate and now there are legal issues as who is to blame for the moisture...my parents have hired a lawyer and now Davis homes is telling my parents to take them to arbitration to have decide about the flooring. and arbitration always favors the builders. i would never recommend Davis-they do not care about the buyers-just want the $$ and there are alot of design flaws throughout the house too.

davis home agreement
Has anyone ever broken a purchase agreement with davis Homes? We want to get out of our agreement. the house will be finished in 4 weeks. We were willing to lose the $3500.00 we put down but their agent and our contract states if Davis wanted to ,we could stand to lose thousands by not purchasing the home. $100.00 per day until the home sells! The neighborhood has 5 new homes ready to go that are for sale. Its not looking to promising for us.We may have to purchase and then try to sell. That seems risky to us.My wife wants to lease it as we move out of state. i think thats a horrible idea.

Probably answering a bit late!
Davis is under new CEO leadership, so the future is bright. I would buy from them and I've been at this for a LONG time.
Of course, what they really need to do to be sucessful is "recreate" their product line, marketing, and staff from 1995-2001. They let their former leadership flush those assets right down the toilet!
GOOD LUCK, BRAD!

never do business with Davis Homes
We had a bad experience with DAVIS HOMES. They screwed up with our contract and ended up selling our lot to somebody else. We live in California and had to travel to Fishers, IN few times to do the design and pre construction meeting appointments. All the deposits were already paid for them to start building our house But instead they sold our Lot to somebody else. Nobody called us to follow up. We were the ones that had to keep calling them but always got voice mail and nobody return our calls. We even referred our friend to buy (BIG MISTAKE) and they did buy and living there now. Took us several months to get all of our deposits back and until now we still haven't seen our $500 referral money that Bud Rogers (their VP) had promised us. We decided just to let go the $500. It's too much headache already. SO Tell all your family and friends to stay away from Davis Homes.
