I just switched from Comcast to U-Verse a week ago. I was with comcast for 16 years and very nervous about switching, I almost cancelled the switch several times after reading some of the horror stories online, but in the end I kept my appointment. The installation went well, but did take 4 hours like they said it would. So far so good, although I do miss having a clock on the box (UVerse boxes do not show the time) and my daughters keep giving me the evil eye because they have to learn where all their favorite channels are (completely different line up), as of today, I don't regret making the switch....I'm paying close attention before my 30 day trial period is up.

I haven't looked into prices, but bundle equipment is more marketing than anything. I think one can still save money by mixing things up.

I'm not really sure. I don't have cable/satellite tv, but I do have comcast cable internet - AT&T's DSL is just way too slow in my neighborhood. Those are my only two choices, a monopoly I suppose.

I have U-Verse and love it with one exception.

If you have the hi-def wireless receivers in the house they tend to get very finicky as the bandwidth increases. If you don't have a lot people using wireless internet/hi-def or multiple hi-def viewers at once you should be okay. Good luck.

You must have their fiber optics.

I can only get DSL in my area, and its not fast enough. Their fastest DSL package isn't even available.
