Should Bart Peterson resign?
I'm trying to keep up with everything going on in Indy.. but it's kinda hard when you're about 2 1/2 hrs north!
I heard of the tax hike, which seems to be happening for no reason. Crime didn't take a significant drop, schools are preforming better, etc.
Should Peterson just resign before Indianapolis REALLY goes downhill (it's barely growing, compared to the last decade where the city grew by almost 90,000 people), and have a special re election?
Who else should be kicked out of office, if anyone? And who should replace them?

I don't see either happening. I've been closely watching city/county management since 2005; clearly a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul, over and over and over. Moneys secured for particular resources are used for anything...it's like Bart has one big check book. I would bet my last dollar that when they broke ground on the new football stadium, that they didn't know where all the money was going to come from.
Stealing from child welfare payments to pay the lease on juvenile center is another thing I remember. What about the library bail out? The remaining millions owed on the old football statium...
They really counted on the Super Bowl for 2011 only to find out that the dome they are building is already outdated and many thousands of seats short.
Amazing stupidity. And clearly warrants a federal investigation.

Who did Bart think he was messing with going up against Jerry Jones for a superbowl?? Indy in January? Oh brother. Everyone from the county assessor level all the way to the top should be recalled, ok, that's extreme. But putting the brunt of the tax burden on it's citizenry, while giving businessess all the breaks is just plain wrong. And Mitch the wonderboy, Bosma and Bauer all pointing fingers at each other isn't going to do a darn thing to help anyone out. Mitch is all about the "now buck" ... give 'em money NOW (see the stupid toll road lease ... where's all this major moves money?). Relief needs to happen now, but it also needs to happen in the years to come with fair taxation of all or else we are going to have another revolt next year.
In my day to day life, I try to look at the big picture and prepare for the future. Mitch and all his lackeys are all short sided, putting a bandaid on a big hole that is only going to get worse pointing fingers and playing politics along the way. Yuck.
The first step is to throw out the assessment and redo it, taxing businesses fairly. Simple? Another, use the dang lottery revenue to improve schools. Split all those revenues from casinos and tracks evenly. I don't know, that's my second cup of coffee armchair rant.

Clearly, the system is badly broken. the new tax assessments are way off base in many cases and totally unfounded. Everyone should file an appeal and press them until the hike is repealed.

A politician is a politician is a politician. I never voted for Peterson, and I did not vote for "MY MAN MITCH", or is that MY MANDARIN MITCH? Politicians on both sides of the aisle are out for themselves, and to HELL WITH THE PEOPLE.

I think most of our local and state leaders should resign. They have demonstrated a lack of vision for several decades and I don't see that fact changing anytime soon. Really, when you think about it, the people get the government they deserve.

Yep, Indy will be another Detroilet before too many more years if we continue in our ways.
They all are out for special interests and keep on giving my money and your money out to businesses that promise delivery of great jobs. Unfortunately, those jobs are never quite what they are supposed to be.
We need more real leaders like Ron Paul. He is running for President in 2008. Please compare all of your political choices to the values held by Dr. Paul. Anyone like him is likely someone capable of preserving American values.

Mayor Hudnut and others like him made Indy what it is today. Peterson just coasted on 20 years of post county-city Marion county consolidation momentum. He could have moved years earlier on the ugly giant tented structure known as RCA dome when first in office when the coffers were fuller, and the lilly and conseco money was rolling in. He really hasn't anything since coming in office. Just a status quo man. We need movers and shakers like hudnut to shake up and change things a bit. Something besides the old "Amateur sports capitol of the world" would work as well......we need new ideas and slogans..something to inspire folks....we have the best football team in the NFL(well, lets see how next weeks New England game goes), so lets bring that momentum from the team and channel it where it can do the most good.....we need a change.......
