Hello,

I am planning to buy my first home in Fishers in the next few months. My wife and I both would like to move in to a brand new home rather than an older house.

We have short listed few subdivisions in Fishers that we like and fit our budget.

2 of those are by Ryland Homes. Westminster and Tanglewood. And the 3rd is by Centex, Sedona woods.

Any suggestions on the quality and reliability of these builders?

Or any suggestions on other builders and subdivisions in Fishers?

thanks

I live in a Centex and I like it, the only complaint is that when it is really windy you can hear the vinyl siding creaking a lot. It could be that way with all homes though, so I don't know if that's a Centex thing or not. It's not luxury, but it is comfortable. I had an experience with one home in the neighborhood that had an issue with the screened porch. The house was built in 1999 or 2000 and this was in 2006. I called the Centex warranty people for my client and they ended up coming out to take care of it, so that was cool.
Ryland seems a little bit more impressive in terms of details and such I think, but I have had issues with them when clients tried to build with them. I'm sure all builders have their problems, and it could have been a one-time thing. My buyers were surprised to find that things in the model home that they liked were NOT included features in the house they were having built, but the sales person didn't tell them that. Also, when it came to getting their earnest money check back, it seemed to take a bit longer than usual to get it returned to them.
So, each has their pros and cons, go to each and weigh what is most important to YOU. Oh, and take a Realtor with you.
