They've already started, domergirl. Fishers is eagerly constructing as many round-a-bouts as they can!

I see this as more of an attempt to "Europanize" (sp?) Roundabouts over there have long been commonplace,a nd personally I think they work great when people know how to use them!!! I jsut don't understand why they are making them so damn small and "tight"???

I say Carmelize because Carmel has spent a significant amount of money to build a downtown that really didn't exist before Mayor Brainard took over. One of the biggest gripes against Fishers was that there wasn't a true downtown area (I for one could care less).

+1 domergirl, I agree it's "Carmelize".
With low traffic volume round-a-bouts work well, but as Gib pionts out, they're making them way too tight/small.
The Europeans are now taking them out because of the extremely high volume of traffic over there. But, the round-a-bouts are only one of the issues. I'm sure you've all been reading about the "annexation"? The crew is sure beating it's collective chest over here.

I grow weary of everyone saying Fishers has "Carmel envy." The only thing both communities are trying to do is keep the actual towns growing (and improving) along with the booming populations. I don't see either trying to copy the other, they are similar because they are connected.
Carmel had a downtown area, it's just now built up and improved. Fishers has never had one, and I am very much welcoming it. The alternative is an endless sea of strip malls with no cohesion or community feel. I liked that about Carmel when I was growing up there. The Fishers Civic Center is nice for the summer concerts and Fair Train, but there's little to do there otherwise. I'm tired of the same old Best Buy/Barnes and Noble/Linen's and Things all in a row. Give me character!
And roundabouts should've been done when they first built the roads!!!

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Hamilton County IN is a very nice area, be it Carmel, Fishers or Westfield. And it's only getting better. I even like the roundabouts!! Once the locals learned how to drive around them, it keeps the traffic flowing smoothly. I didn't realize how nice it was here until I moved back home to DC metro (Manassas VA) last year, and cut the long story short, I'm glad to be back minus the weather ofcourse. Cheers folks! And Happy holidays!!

Carmel is really nice, but I am struggling to make it here. I feel like someone living in a refrigerator box here.
But I would highly recommend it...lots to do with the arts, good schools, very safe to live here.
It's just me. I can't find a good job.
If I had the money, I'd open a business.

Was being more positive a new yrs resolution neb? If you have a strong business plan and can prove that the profit and demand is there for your business idea, the SBA (Small Businees Association) will spot you a low interest loan. You can even figure in enough money to borrow to pay yourself a salary of up to $50k/yr for up to 2yrs. Might be worth looking into. Indianapolis and the surrounding metro areas are a capitialist / entrepreneur haven.

More positive? I just lost my job. Is that a good thing?
I have no idea for any real business. Most people work in an industry for about 5 years and learn all they can about it, before they decide to go into it for themselves. Most startups fail, or fail to turn a profit for about 5 years.
You have to have a product or service with a need, and a good knowledge about that product or service.
You said "prove that the profit and demand is there for your business idea"...it is more about the bank being able to repossess when you don't succeed. An idea or prototype or new ventures don't do well when banks have noting to repossess. Say you have a dress shop and you go belly up, the bank can take your dresses since they are worth something.
It is very hard to prove you are going to turn a profit in any business.
I need money right now. I am going to have to take a job for someone undeducated and become very poor with no insurance.
The big ambiguous walk into job with benefits doesn't exist anymore.

Plus with my debt, I doubt any bank will loan me enough to buy a toaster.
