I laughed so hard when I saw that! However, there is one potentially very embarrassing error in there: Nordstrom no longer exists at the Circle Center...Had The Onion known this, they would probably have ripped Indy for that!

See another thing that needs to happen though before my dream of Indy hosting the 2020 Olympics or any olympics for that matter is we need to A Kill the crime in our city. B we need to demolish all the abandoned buildings in our city. Mayor Ballards plan for destroying 20% of the stock in 2 years is a great start and heck why i would vote for him. Amongst other reasons. Also C we need to expand our transit system to handle the traffic of the Olympics and add a 2nd major Airport. But we would need to grow Indianapolis Economically and physically too. I would say if we can get Indy's population to over 2M Metro by 2020 then we could seriously consider it. Companies in the high cost Liberal Blue states would love to Relocate to Indy if they knew all the benefits of doing so. But Mitch Daniels would rather be in the political spotlight and writing books than doing that. Greg Ballard has done an Ok job getting businesses here like Project Lead the Way but i will determine if he is doing a good enough job once the economy rebounds.

Let's be brutally honest. We love Indy, but it's just not an Olympic host city. We may have or possess the ability to construct the facilities, but the cost of the security apparatus alone would take us out of the running. And after the way the IOC treated Atlanta and dumped on the Chicago 2016 bid, I don't really want the bastards here. The IOC is as bad as FIFA, as I see it. They want host cities to pledge billions in taxpayer monies and construct white elephants. Screw 'em.

Billions of dollars in Indy? Ya Good luck and good point.
Maybe after the IOC and FIFA miss the USA enough they will rethink about coming here.
