Poor Doug, now he's going to be flooded with phone calls for help. 866-884-6828 ext 5927

Doug told me that I can always count on him. Hope that Comcast gives him a big raise because he's worth it.

You're pretty much stuck with two choices - cable internet or DSL. Cable companies have regional monopolies here, so if you're within the 'old' Indianapolis City limits you're stuck with Brighthouse; if you're not you have Comcast. I have road runner through Brighthouse but it doesn't seem to matter much since it all goes through Brighthouse's pipe anyway. Option 2 is DSL, which is a little slower but might be cheaper.

Comcast seems to be working out fairly well except for some in Europe telling me that Comcast has been blocking out their ISP.

We just got rid of DSL after running tests throughout our house and found that DSL was wreaking havoc on our phone lines causing cut outs, clicks, etc. on our phone line. We switched back to good old cable modem and haven't had any problems.

Default Brighthouse vs Comcast

When I first moved to Indy I had comcast (for about 4 years) and my internet was constantly crashing and we would call and be told that something was "down" on their end. But we were always able to squeeze discounts from them (we had the 6 month speical price for about 2 years).

Since I moved and now live almost downtown, Brighthouse is my cable company and my internet provider. So far the internet has only gone down once (in about 6 months) and that was my cats fault because he unplugged my cable modem. Brighthouse does let you select your speed, there is a low, middle and super fast option. I am on the middle and it is about the same as Comcast's normal speed. To my knowledge though, comcast does not offer a low or super speed.

Brighthouse has been super nice customer service wise, though they did screw up my cable installation and forgot to leave me a remote. I also have huge complaints against their DVR system...but you only asked about internet so I digress.

Default internet service

DO NOT I REPEAT do not use Comcast, I have filed my 4th Better Business Complaint just since Feb 2007. THEY by far have the Worst Customer Service I have ever had to deal with.

You can talk to 5 different people in the same day and will receive 5 different answers to your problem and NO ONE ever is able to actually resolve the issue.

I am in the middle of switching to Direct TV, anybody is going to be an improvement over COMCAST.

We use the SBC Yahoo DSL and it's terrific. Don't try tacking on a wireless thing for your laptop though. It would knock us offline as soon as we tried to use it for our laptop and that was a pain

I'm actually using both laptop and desktop simultanously on AT&T, I'm using their wireless modem combo. Not having any problems.
