Who Is The Best Internet Service Provider?
Just wondering, who is the fastest and best internet service provider in the greater Indianapolis area, including the Geist? Looking for one which has good download and upload speed.
I read an article which stated that Comcast has been employing filters on its network which decreases speed. Any feedback about Comcast would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am not sure who the best is but I am pretty sure who the worst is!! The worst internet service provider is Comcast in my opinion. I"ve had them here in Indy, and also in VA and their customer service is the biggest load of poo poo I've ever seen, they are absolutely the worst. It took them a week to figure out why my internet service wasn't working when I lived in VA, they sent three different crews out which turned out to be the wrong people or they didn't have the right tools or whatever and when I'd call them, it was like pulling teeth and they acted like I was the one who is out of line!! Then, the so called "customer service" lady wouldn't give me the right credit on my bill, we were arguing and going back and forth over a few dollars, they were very rude! Stay away from them!!

X-Greensboro
That's a pretty terrible review of Comcast. I don't think I want to write one like that in a few months. Please tell me who is really good in your area so I can get married to the right ISP and whistle Dixie with super download and upload speed. Thanks.

You are one funny dude! I like the "whistle Dixie with super download" line, not only rich but also smooooth!!
I'm not really sure who is the best. I just know that it wasn't pleasant dealing with Comcast. I have Firstmile Technologies, it's okay, nothing to write home about but their customer service is awesome and sometimes that makes all the difference. I've heard good things about Brighthouse but I've never personally had them. Maybe someone else can drop a couple of names. Good luck!

Thanks. I have been using Insight Broad Band for the past 5 years and they have been very good to me. Unfortunately Comcast is taking them over in North Central Indiana.

I use Insight. $35 per month, have never had a problem in 2 years, so I'm not sure how responsive/helpful they are. Reliable, though.

I had Insight before and then got Comcast. X-Greensboro was right when he referred to Comcast's customer service as a 'joke'. It's been horrible so far and I doubt that it will get better. Their Tech Support consists mainly of incompetents who are not adequately trained to help resolve even routine setup problems. Heck, the Comcast Tech Support people I got weren't even familar with Microsoft Office 2007 Outlook mail program and couldn't assist me in configuring several email accounts on Comcast's mail server.

All the previous Comcast Tech Support idiots were absolutely of no help in setting up my Microsoft Office 2007 Outlook mail program to work with the Comcast mail server. Several told me that Office 2007 Outlook was not compatible with the Comcast servers and couldn’t be used. Later, one Comcast Tech Support idiot down in Louisiana told me to set it on Port 587 for outgoing mail and that was wrong. The correct port setting is 25, not 587. I went through two (2) weeks of not being able to use my Outlook mail program because the fools at Comcast didn’t know the proper settings to make it work. Finally I got in touch with Doug who is a Comcast Tech Support person up in Ann Arbor, Michigan who knew the proper port settings and Bingo!! I got Outlook to work using the Comcast server. As far as I am concerned, Doug is the most competent and probably only capable Comcast Tech Support person they have. Doug’s extension is 5927 and he works evenings.
If you have problems with Comcast and need help, be sure to call and ask for Doug up in Ann Arbor.
