The Libertine is an excellent drinking establishment with some nice small dishes as well. It is on E. Washington Street - about a 1/2 block east of Meridian Street -- so just two blocks from your place at the Hampton Inn. The Coal Pizza place next door is pretty good too. Also -- for good slices of Pizza - try Giorgio's on E. Market -- a half block east of Monument Circle.

Walk up to the World War Memorial -- just east of N. Meridian Street where it crosses Vermont Street. This is about 5 blocks north of where you'll be staying. Go inside and explore the Museum for a while and then go up the steps to the Shrine Room. It is one of the most amazing spaces you'll find anywhere. Its beautiful. I won't say anymore so it'll be a surprise.

Also -- the Eiteljorg Museum at White River State Park has some beautiful Western American and Indian art. It is about seven blocks west of the Hampton Inn.
