Default Job at DFAS, IN

Just accepted a job in DFAS Indianapolis. I am moving from Colorado Springs.
Just me and daughter (8 years old) for now and son joining me after his senior year at HS, heading off to Purdue to join sister who is a 2nd year at Purdue. What is the best area to live and the best elem schools. Considering that I will have to do before and after care for the little one, what is the best option for someone working in DFAS. Renting for now as we have a home here in Colorado Springs to sell
Any help will be great

Although we have exchanged a couple of PMs, I forgot to tell you that depending on how much you want to drive, all of the city is open to you. DFAS is easily accessable from the interstate. I have a buddy who lives out in Avon (far westside suburb) and it takes him only about 45 minutes to drive to work in rush hour. Also, you have Greenfield that is a viable option. Decent schools, close to the city but still somewhat rural.

Default NE side

i assume dfas is what we call fort harrison.

based on where DFAS is located, you'd find it easier living around there, or north of there toward castleton. or hancock county, a few miles east of dfas.

hancock or lawrence north schools would work. greenfield's half an hour but good schools. avon is light years away.

Yes, If you are planning on working at Fort Harrison, stay on the east side. There are some nice areas of SE Marion County, but the taxes are eating people alive. I would probably look at Hancock County as others have suggested.
