Default looking for good neighborhoods close to IUPUI-plz help

Hi everyone...

My husband just got a research job at Indiana univ.-Purdue univ. and we will be moving at the end of this month to Indianapolis. We would like to live in a safe and clean neighborhood yet not too far from my husbands job as he might need to come home during the day and return to work later at night.
We come from Pennsylvania and have been living in a small and nice college town with lots of greenery. I dont expect to find the same thing there yet it would be nice to have a park nearby for our baby boy..

We are looking to rent a place at the moment and one complex apartment that we came accross is called Lexington Green and Villa Capri Apt. which is located at Maplewood drive towards the west and is about a 20 min drive to downtown and my husbands job.

Is this a clean and safe area? and if not can anyone suggest a good place?

Id really appreciate your help.
Thanx

Try apartmentratings.com for some more information. I cannot rate them but they are in Speedway around some shopping but the area is older, there is a lot of traffic on those main roads, it may be too close to I465(unsure), price is low but not sure about available parks. Some of the apartment complexes in the inner I465 loop have lot of people sharing (due in part to the low rent) During races, the traffic will be horrendous because you are so close to the Indianapolis Speedway.

I might suggest something in Greenwood just south of I465 or around I65 slightly south of I465.

If you want walkable and within 15 minutes of IUPUI, see if you can find something in Broad Ripple. One person who was asking for a specific apartment found several around Guilford and 62nd. You will find this is within walking distance (just blocks) to Broad ripple park, lots of stores so you wont have to drive all over, a library, organic stores, coffee shops (at least 3), and a nice canal walk. My doctor and eye doctor are there too. I would pay a little more for the convenience and available walkable amenities. If you dont have to drive all over, you will save on gas. We lived close to there and made it downtown on Capital or College in 15 minutes. A lot of young professionals and downtown workers. I just love the safe walkable sidewalked neighborhoods.

See if you can find the post from the woman who wanted hardwood floors. She was able to find an apartment there and mentioned where it was.
