You couldn't be any more wrong if you tried. I attended IPS schools up until my senior year of high school, at which point I transferred to NC. This was in 2000.

If they are so great why don't you send your kids there?
I would if I still lived in Indianapolis. They have great magnet programs. IPS hasn't changed at all. The social demographics, as well as the attitudes of the parents, are what's changed. Not the district. There are people like you all over Indy that have it backwards.

Also, NC has a great academic reputation. Be careful what you say.
As I pointed out earlier, it's reputation has faded.

You know, it's funny that you mention this because NC actually has below average ISTEP+ scores. Virtually all Hamilton County high schools blow away NC in academics, too. And it isn't hard to see why. North Central has serious issues with students involved in street gangs and drugs, and anyone who says otherwise is flat out lying.

Who cares about Hamilton County schools! we are talking about Marion County. After all, this is the Indianapolis board. Another thing, I'm tired of everyone assuming that all schools out of Marion Co. are void of gangs and drug problems. Hell, Zionsville, Carmel and all those other white flight destinations are filled with depressed kids who can afford the drugs anyways.

Also, what were the reasons you transfered?

Why? Are you going to report me to Homeland Security?

Surely you realize there is a difference between reputation and reality. I actually know a couple of NC grads... they're drug addicts.

And you assume I have kids? You assume a lot of things.

One of you told me to watch what I say and I was just repeating it. I had some friends from Carmel, they abuse meth every other week. And IF you had kids, would you still send them there?

And you probably do have friends that abuse meth--I never said they didn't. What I'm saying is that you can't base IPS on unfair stereotypes and not expect someone to return the favor.

And I brought up Hamilton County because that is where most of Marion County's middle class has moved to. I transfered from Ripple to NC in my senior year simply because my parents moved across town, and I had to attend NC.

It was more of a great opportunity and I don't hang out with drug users.

Actually, if I had kids, I wouldn't raise them in the Indianapolis metro area at all. For a start, the future isn't so bright here. The way things are going, the Indianapolis metro area is going to be like New Orleans- without the character. This is why I find it so amusing when people try to be snobbish over township versus IPS; same sinking ship, folks. It doesn't matter if you're in steerage or first class. The best thing anyone here could do, in my opinion, is to make it to one of the lifeboats as quickly as possible.

Secondly, I'd want my children to be raised in an environment where "blue state values" are the norm.

Not only can you not accept the fact that some of us don't like NC but you resort to modifying my original post. You are so immature it isn't even funny--now it's just sad. Run along to bed now, little boy.

Alright, well go ahead and haul a$$ somewhere else with "character" and "blue state values". Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
