How do you like living in Fishers?
My husband and I are considering moving to Fishers. Any help would be great!
1) What are the pros and cons of living in Fishers?
2) How much does pre-school generally cost?
Thanks!

Hi,
Thought I'd respond since no one has yet. It won't be THAT helpful because I can't answer the question since I do not live there.
But a very close friend of mine lives in Fishers and whenever I've gone to visit him my experience is always pretty awesome.
As far as pros and cons, I've heard him say more pros than cons about it. He's never really complained about it. Except the snow, he hates the winters but so does everyone else who's fortunate enough to get snow. hehe.
My take on it, as a tourist-- there was a relaxing vibe. Nice scenery and it seemed friendly. Hope someone else can give you a better answer but if you're wondering about the overall 'feel' of the place, I give it 2 thumbs up!

I lived in Fishers for 4 years ... we left in June due to a job. We loved Fishers. We lived on the extreme east side (116th & Olio). When we moved out there, there wasn't anything except the reservoir, now it's a booming commercial area. You can live anywhere and I mean anywhere in Fishers and you will be going to a 4 star school. Not too many communities can say that. It's a bustling suburb. The traffic can be bad sometimes, but there are alternate routes.
I do like living where we live better now. But I really enjoyed living in Fishers.
As for snow, I'm not a good person to ask because I'm used to lake effect snows in Northern Indiana and Chicago ... I thought winters in Fishers were pretty wimpy.
Preschool. Most of my friends sent their kids to to Fishers United Methodist. It was very reasonable pricewise. We sent our oldest to Goddard and that was 400 a month, but that was extreme. My second daughter went to Geist Sports Academy and it was 200 a month. You have lots of options. There's even a preschool affilicated with Brooks School Road Elementary that's, I believe, less that 200 for the whole year.

I've been in Fishers for over 5 years now, and I love it. There's a lot to do, and it's close to Indy. Like domergurl said, traffic is a concern if you must take I-69, but depending on where you commute, there are alternate routes.
I'm not sure about pre-school yet (my son just turned 3), but daycare averages about $190 a week. I got lucky and found a wonderful in-home licensed daycare which is structured much like a pre-school for $157/week.
Domergurl, the prices you gave--is that for all day pre-school??

That was for 3 days a week from 9-1pm. We had just moved to Fishers and the school was right around the corner from my house. Needless to say, we didn't send our second daughter there and our checking account was happy!

That makes sense then... I have to come up with daycare for 5 days a week, 8-5, which really takes a big chunk out of my paycheck! Goddard School was WAY out or the running. Something like $1000 per month, if I recall.

That's hard to say really. Depends on what you want to spend on a house. Fishers runs the gambit. Again, every school is 4 star, so you don't necessarily have to avoid any area. I guess if you don't like a lot of traffic, stay away from the Allisonville Road corridor. We lived out on the east side, 116th & Olio and the only time traffic was a hassle was during school arrival and dismissal, but the Fishers police are at every school directing traffic during those times.
