I know, I was being a smartass. I still think that unless you're really, really skinny, skinny jeans look ridiculous. Rivers Cuomo has been doing the big, nerdy glasses for about 20 years, so I'm not as put off by those.

The hipster scene is alive but unobtrusive in Indy...just avoid independent coffee houses and most of Broad Ripple...that said, judging from my own experiences in Phili and Indianapolis, you might find the hipster crowd to be less exclusive here than in other parts of the country...

I saw a big douchy hipster with a BIG douchy mustache in a striped sweater in brip not too long ago. They exist here but they aren't as prominent as other subcultures around the city.

and lol and some of the "older" indy residents not knowing what a hipster is.

Yeah, I didn't know what a hipster is... Knowing what they are now, not sure why anyone would pay them any attention or be bothered by them. Per your description, I'd have to agree with my man grmasterb, they're what my generation would call "dorks" or "tools" and wouldn't pay them any attention... "To each his own" type of thing and move on!

Seriously people, how can you take some fool wearing "skinny jeans" looking like a complete tool seriously??? I"d just chuckle (but not judge) and move on....

Someday REM will be that "older" Indy resident getting laughed at by the young folks. He can look at us and see his future.
