Evan, these were shareholders protesting. You know, the owners of the company?? Why would they feel any different if it was Indiana giving the tax breaks??

lol cause Indiana #1 isnt in the hole that Illinois is in.
#2 they cant complain because our state has a balanced budget and can afford tax breaks unlike Illinois
A balanced budget allows a state to actually give basically unlimited Tax Credits because it wont send you in the hole budget wise

Regardless you as well as me know how much of a boom this would be for Indianapolis if we got the world's largest futures exchange company to locate here.
#1 thats thousands of high paying jobs for our city.
#2 Indianapolis would jump up in the ranks for World Class Cities. Right now were a Gamma rating. We would jump into the Beta rating because of all the Financial stuff involved with CME group.
#3 all the other small businesses and large alike that need to be close to CME would probably relocate to Indy too bringing in more jobs

1. These are activist shareholders who don't agree with companies getting tax breaks that jeapordize social services. Indiana may have a balanced budget, but many still believe that social services are underfunded in this state (on top of education and public pensions). You're really fooling yourself if you think they wouldn't pull the same stuff in Indy.

2. I'm not certain to what degree our labor force here has the skill set the CME would be looking for and at the right quantity. It may have to ask several Chicagoland employees to relocate. And in spite of your high opinion of Indy, many just might say no.

many wouldnt say no if you think about its either you come with CME group or go to the unemployment office.
Knowing not many jobs in this field are around i dont think they would be stupid enough to reject a relocation. Plus Chicago is only 3 hours away which is soo better than the other options like Texas and Flordia.
I plan on meeting with Mayor Ballard sometime this summer and i want this to happen. Indy would never be the same with CME group here and it would be as great as when the Colts relocated here

Wasn't it Mitch and Ballard who welcomed this so-called LiteBox company last year? You see where that's been going haven't you?
