DO NOT LET YOUR DAUGHTER WORK AT LSM. That is the worst mall in Indianapolis. If you go there you're bound to see something.

I lived in Indy about 12 years ago- Speedway- and I used to go to that mall alone. But it has really gone downhill since. It's scary now. Keep your daughter away from there.

Please don't let her take the job.

I worked at the Old Navy at LSM. There when it opened, and also five years later when it closed.

The first year the store was open, it averaged a loss of 265 units a day. Close to $300,000 loss in one year.

We were not allowed to leave alone at night, we all left as a group (partly due to company policy, partly due to the mall itself).

That was five years ago. I can't imagine it's gotten any better.

Default Guess what

Wal-Mart is opening a super store at Lafayette Square Mall.

There is a discussion about the Indiana economy under another subject. The news reported that 16,000 applications were received for 400 jobs. WOW

I'm just wondering about security coverage there if she's leaving work at night.
I have read some of the other comments that were made regarding this topic. I would like to say that I have work at Lafayette Square Mall since June 2005 and have never once felt unsafe. During my time at Lafayette Square I have seen the mall change for the better. Public Safety has always been top concern for the mall and they have done an excellent job making this a safe mall to shop at. I have been here during the day, nights, and weekends and have not felt as if it was unsafe. I even have shopped in the area at night, and again, didn't feel unsafe. Most people's comments that I read either haven't been to the mall in years, or have never been here. They go by the lies and deception that the media presents about the mall and the area. At one time this mall was deemed unsafe, however that is not the case today. Just like every mall in this city we have our share of problems. However, they are not worse off then any other mall. A study that came out in 2006 showed that we were a safer mall then Castleton Square, Washington Square and Circle Centre Mall.

Then this study was biased. As a person who works within the law enforcement community, I can tell you without a shred of doubt that Lafayette Square has the worst crime rate of any local Indianapolis mall.

Since September 1st, there have been 151 police runs to the mall. Consider that the mall is only open roughly 9am to 10pm. There have been 80 days since September 1st, counting today. One hundred fifty one runs in 80 days, during a 13 hour time span.

Seventy-two of those police runs were theft-related, and not just from the stores within the mall. That encompasses theft from the mall patrons and employees as well. Safe, by my definition, does not simply include safety from personal bodily harm, it also includes the safety of my property as well.

I can appreciate that you work at LSM, and you see the things that go on there every day--however, I hear the police respond to this location on several occasions throughout the day.
