Harrassed by courtesy officer for noise. HELP!

Me: "Really? I had it up barely at all."
CO: "If i can hear it walking to my car it's too loud."
Me: "I don't share walls with anyone i don't see how it's going to bother someone for the 5 seconds while they are walking to their car. Did you hear it from inside your apartment?"
CO: "No but that's not the point, there's someone that lives above you and when they complain I'll have to come to your door again!"
Me: "Will you just come down and show some respect? I don't think this is necessary."
CO: "Look this isn't Mayberry."
Me: "I don't know what that means, what is Mayberry."
CO: "It means you're arguing with me, now you just moved in here didn't you? Turn the music down if you want to stay here."
: he walks away :

I'm extremely pissed that I was treated this way for music that was only heard when walking RIGHT NEXT TO MY WALL outside. I'm going to talk to the apartment about it tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone here could give me some insight on the laws or just their opinion on this incident.

This was not a complaint from someone inside their apartment. It was a douche bag cop who was trying to show he was the law to the new resident because he heard some music from outside my door. I never told him i wouldn't turn it down. Anyway, i complained to the apartment and they said they would contact him to come in a talk about it. It's been almost a week, and he has not returned their call.

Enough said i guess. What a tool.
