In.warner - I can tell you that your $$ will go a lot farther when buying a home in Noblesville. Carmel is a great area but you won't find too many houses in the 180k range that I believe you previously mentioned. A 200k house in Noblesville is usually a 240-250k house in Carmel. You pay for that address.

Any of the schools in Hamilton County, which includes both Carmel and Noblesville are considered top notch. What additional information are you looking for in that regard?

I hear ya on the housing... definately seems to be more available in Noblesville. We could go a little higher than 180,000 (190,000), we were just hoping not to.

I guess I would like to know why Noblesville is considered top notch. Is it their testing scores, student teacher ratio, the courses they offer, their extra curricular? I keep finding all this stuff on the internet about Carmel and the many things their school system has to offer , but outside of Nobleville actual school website, I havent seen a whole lot out there regarding their schools. Idealy it would be great to hear from a parent who has a child in the Noblesville school system. I would like to hear about their interactions with the teachers, after school programs quality of ap courses etc. I keep hearing that all the schools are great in Hamilton county, but outside of Carmel Im not hearing why. We are planning to at least tour the highschools in each area, so Im sure that will helpful, Im just looking for student/parent perspectives. We dont know a single person in the area, so I don't have anyone to ask about this kind of stuff.

It sounds like Carmel has a lot to offer but it is rather competative. Whats the competition factor like in Noblesville?

There may not be a poster here from Noblesville.

When we were contemplating a move 12 years ago, I went to visit the area alone. I walked into a fast food place at lunch time, sat down, and started talking to the strangers around me. I did the same thing at a convenience store near the area we liked best. Dinner at any fast food place would work, or hit one at the end of the school day to get a perspective from students in the system. Not a whole lot different than asking strangers on the internet.

ok, sp we have looked at some houses, but im still uncertain. I thought it would be so much easier once we were actually here. Found some houses that fit our price range and that we like. Does anyone have any thoughts about these neighborhoods? Thank you!

Default Noblesville

Hello,

we are living around 146st street and Hazel Dell. We have the benefits of Carmel without the costs. We moved to Noblesville from Carmel because we wanted to have land and not the neighbors right next door. Now we have to move from our beautiful place to DC, and I just realize how nice we had it.... We have a 3500 sqf home on 7 acres. With horses/deer or just to shoot some golf balls. We are located very central and need 25 min. to downtown Indy. Just in case someone is looking for a place. Available January 2013.

You cannot make it from 146th/Hazel Dell to downtown Indy in 25 minutes in a safe, legal manner.

I'd agree. I live near 141st and SR 37. With decent traffic it takes about 25-30 minutes to get downtown depending how much over the speed limit I dare to go. And it takes about 10 minutes to get to 146th and Hazel Dell, part of my route to work every day.

Yep... I live near 146th and Spring Mill road which is a much more straight forward route to downtown and takes me right around 30 minutes and that's at 5:30 AM with not much traffic on the road.
