East Coasters, where do you live?
Looking for input from some east coast folks. Boston, NYC, New Jersey, Philadelphia, DC...
I live in Philly Center City, probably relocating ti Indy. Lean towards MK, Butler area. (Have kids, younger, looking at private schools). Also considering Zionsville but a big burbs person (Maybe Stonegate?)
Would like to hear from recent relocators (Last 18 months or so) about the areas you live in, what you do and do not like about those areas, and what you wish you knew before you moved (what would you do different?)
Thanks

I have a friend from Manhattan who relocated to Indy 10 years ago. She lives on the Northside of town and loves it here. I know that isn't representative of all the transplants but it's just a thought...

I don't really fit your guidelines, but I would consider myself a more "east coast minded" person.
I've spent a great amount of time in the cities you mentioned and I can't imagine going from any of those cities into a "suburb" of Indianapolis (Fishers, Carmel, Brownsburg, Zionsville, Avon, Greenwood, Plainfield, etc) They are all really suburban hells in my personal opinion.
Butler-Tarkington and Meridian Kessler are much more "livable" and city-like. You'd be close to everything and still be in a nice/safe area for your kids.

"The North side" Does that mean Carmel, fisher, etc? Or does it mean Meridan Kessler, Broadripple, Butler?
Both are "North", but I am not sure which is "The North Side"

That was my sense, although some say Zionsville is worth a look (In "The Village" or one of the fancy developments like Stonegate).

Old town Zionsville is quaint and worth visiting for sure. I wouldn't actually LIVE there though.. being a fun loving city person. haha.
Also "Fancy Developments" are worthless. When I drive by the McMansions on 421 or basically in any 'burb in Indy I relish in the fact that I bought a real house in a real neighborhood in the city. Might sound elitist or snobby, but seriously those homes are crap and the neighborhoods have zero character.
