Lol. When I lived in Wyoming there were times and places where it was illegal to drive without studs or chains. They didn't use salt either.

The comment "use chains" when speaking about an urban area is usually sarcasm. However, after watching drivers today, I wish they had cars in better repair and better winter tires. One woman was driving on 465 with a wobbling front tire. Saw more people slipping and sliding with summer or even bald tires.

We never used chains or studded tires in Alaska. You just learned how to drive on ice and had good winter tires.

I once saw a Chicago cop using chains and pushing cars with his push bumper

I lived in Indiana for almost 40 years. You learn to drive on the snow and ice because you were expected to be at work no matter what. Never used tire chains. However, I live in the Pacific Northwest now and wouldn't think of crossing the passes during snow without chains. Different road grades. In any case, the one thing that Indiana doesn't do are vehicle inspections. I understand a lot of people don't have the money for car repair and it's nice that the government is sensitive to this. However, when there are no inspections, you will see things like cars with bondo and wiggling tires. It is what it is. You just have to always allow for extra room between you and other people and leave extra early for work.

Bondo in cars is not really the issue. Yes people mis use it because like they mis use duct tape, but bondo in itself is not a bad thing.

I do agree with you on the inspections....when's the last time Indianapolis did vehicle inspections? And I do agree I have seen some unsafe cars out there, usually driven by the very low class Indianapolis folks.

However if I'm not mistaken i believe there are 2 counties in Indiana that still inspect.
