We will be in Indianapolis for 4th of July weekend. I have a 10 year old daughter and I think our 19-year-old former exchange student will be with us. We'll be staying in a hotel very close to the convention center, as my son has an event that he'll be at on Friday and Saturday. We won't have a car. What are some things in the downtown Indy area that we could either walk to or take public transportation to, that would make fun girls' days out?

For a 10 year old definitely the zoo eijeteljorg or however they spell it museum. Fireworks, a jump on the bus to the childrens museum, canal, shopping. You can catch the 46 to butler and visit the carrillon and holcomb gardens then walk over to ima.

If you are into baseball, the Indianapolis Indians are home on July 4th. They shoot off their own fireworks after the game, then let everyone stay to watch the city's firework show from the stadium.

You can take paddle boat, gondola, or segway rides at the canal during the day and ride horses from monument circle at night.
