Here's a shocker....a new survey came out that ranks Indy as the 9th most polluted city in the USA, two steps above Chicago, ranked 11th...Did you folks realize Indy was that polluted with filth? I had no idea!

City Mayors: The most polluted US cities

I had no idea that the skies above indy were that caked with particulate
and filth!

Default Obviously

1) Obviously you've never lived in town and had everything you leave outside covered with soot.

2) City Mayors is a leftist site.

3) American Lung Association data is wack, we could not have gone from 24th to 9th in one year:

2007 - American Lung Association:*Air Pollution Facts & Air Quality Info - Best & Worst Cities - ALA State of the Air 2007 (http://lungaction.org/reports/sota07_cities.html - broken link)

2006 - American Lung Association:*SOTA06 Best and Worst Citites (http://lungaction.org/reports/sota06_cities.html - broken link)

What does that have to do with anything? Its 1about urban pollution. You can't just say, "Its not true because its leftist," to everything you disagree with, especially things you likely know little about. Are you a pollution expert?

Often times the parameters for ranking are changed from year to year to more accurately reflect reality. Maybe last years ranking of 24th was incorrect due to a less accurate way of compiling the data or analyzing the statistics vs. this year's data. That doesn't make the ALA rankings wrong.

As for being surprised that Indy has more pollution than Chicago, I am definitely not surprised. Chicago's Mayor Daley has made it one of his initiatives to curb the city's pollution and has been working hard to make it a green city. He has received rave reviews for his work so far. What has Indy done besides planted more trees?

I've lived there, so I really am surprised....I did see a lot of exhaust from the allison plant on the south side....I think it must mostly be on the south side....not much pollution up north but the traffic....which in itself isnt good....

Pollution mainly comes from cars, I am guessing.

Yet city officials aren't implementing changes to the public transportation system (or are they?)

Public transportation is a no issue anywhere in Indiana except the Region. They just keep building and widening roads ... it's sad.
