I am in Indiana for the weekend trying to find a place to live. My son is African American and will be a sophomore next year. He plays basketball, so I had set my sights on Hamilton Southeastern as it a good school (both athletically and academically). Now here's the hard part. I can not find a place to live!!!! Mainly because I am looking to rent for at least six months before purchasing. I have about two weeks out from my move date and at the point that I may have to rethink schools. There are virtually no rentals in Hamilton Southeastern High School that are actually available but there at tons in Fishers High School. Why is that? Is Fishers High School not a good school???

Just a hunch -- HSEHS generally encompasses more affluent areas of Fishers, which may mean fewer rentals. Both are good schools, though.

yes. Both schools are excellent. I believe the district line for Fishers HS is I69 and that's where most of the apartments are located.

I think Domergurl is right. It's just that the huge majority of apartments in Fishers are located in the Fishers High School school district, not HSE, as most apartments in Fishers are north/west of I-69. Both high schools are very good schools.

As mentioned by previous posters, Fishers schools are located in more established housing areas, while Hamilton Southeastern schools boundary has a lot of newer subdivisions and those housing developments are a little more expensive then your average one.

Both schools are excellent however and you can't go wrong with either. From a basketball standpoint, Fishers is also a very good school. They have had some very good teams over the past few years.
