Relocating from Chicago -- are Greenwood or Franklin (south/southeast of Indy) worth looking at? What would the demographics be? Coming from fairly progressive, suburban professional suburb of Chicago. Would either of the above-mentioned communities be at all similar? Thanks for your help.

No ... well, Greenwood maybe moreso than Franklin, but if you are expecting Chicago amenities, you won't get them in either. Now, if you take both towns for what they are and not put the Chicago expectations on them, you will probably be pleasantly surprised. Franklin has a nice college. Greenwood is closer to Indy and has more suburban sprawl (not quite Naperville-y, that would be Fishers). I'd compare Greenwood & Franklin to places like Fox Lake or Crystal Lake ... suburban, yet they still have their own identity. Franklin may be a bit cheaper than Greenwood, but there is more housing available in Greenwood. If schools are a consideration, stay in the Center Grove school district of Greenwood (White River Twp).
