I'm moving to Whitestown Indiana! Are there any black or mixed race families there?
My husband and I are moving out of the city(indianapolis). We want to live in Zionsville but can't afford it. Whitestown seems like the next best option. There's a new neighborhood that's in our price range. Not many people know much about Whitestown. We are black and worry that we might have problems here. Most people here seem friendly but I've only been out there a few times. I want to feel safe. That's why I want out of the city. Thanks!

It's in the Zionsville school district, that's probably the biggest drawing card.

Perhaps I'm naive, but I expect no problems. Keep up your property and be respectful to your neighbors in terms of kids, noise, pets, etc. and I'm sure you'll find your neighbors to be very friendly. I live in Westfield, which seems to be predominantly caucasian, but I see some minority families around (including my former neighbors across the street who I liked very much) and they seem to like the area. I suspect the color of your actions is a far bigger factor in how your neighbors like or dislike you than the color of your skin (at least it is to me).

Funny thread.
My grandparents lived in Whitestown, Indiana for 18 years. They're AA and never had any problems. Our neighbors used to plow their snow out of the street and driveway when there was a bad storm. I remember one time my grandmothers car got stuck in the snow up the street, and she couldn't make it home. A guy a couple houses up plowed her car out and everything. But anytime my family would come to visit, everyone knew EXACTLY where we lived... :-D
Just because a town is called Whitestown doesn't mean anything. Brownsburg is overwhelmingly white, as most Indy suburbs are, so it's not that big a deal. Be nice to others and they will be nice to you; people aren't going to be hostile to you because you're black (some people may, but they're just messed up in the head so they don't really matter). I think my grandparents enjoyed living in Whitestown the most than any other place they've lived.

It's meaning the subdivision they are looking at, or it's meaning Whitestown; because the village proper and the majority of surrounding Whitestown is Lebanon school district. Which is problematic, no matter what race you are.

Yes, it's confusing. Zionsville West is a middle on the boarder of the school district...you can live practically across the street and have to go to Lebanon.
