Are there any stores in the Indianapolis area that offer organic veggies, produce and canned products? Prefer independently owned stores to national chains such as Whole Foods.

Pogues Run is the food coop on 10th. Closest to independent grocery I think there is here. Marsh is locally owned I think. At least it is the smallest.

Yes, there are many.

Some are national (Kroger, Whole Foods), some are regional (Meijer), and some are local (Georgetown Market, Nature's Pharm, Goose, Pogue's, Trader's Point), but organic food is easy to find in Indy. We also have some great farmer's markets.

Google or Yelp would have brought you results faster (you know, instantly) than asking this question on CD.

I went to Meijer which is right down the street. Found a few things.

I do like to obtain input from experienced local people that have first hand knowledge of the food carried in local stores especially when it comes to fresh produce. A Gurgle search will yield potential shopping venues but with few, if any reviews. If someone in the local areas recommends a place, then it must be worth visiting. I am taking notes...

How about areas stores that have a variety of cheese? Tried Marsh but they have only a few basics. Are there any area stores that sell a variety of cheeses such as Cheddar from VT and WI? KC has something called Better Cheddar which offers a variety of cheeses from around the country and globe. Anything like that in Indy? Would like to find a quality Gruyere to use when making French Onion Soup. And VT cheddar for snacking.

If you're concerned with healthy eating, you shouldn't be eating dairy.

I appreciate your concern for my health. But that is not the topic of discussion. Everything in moderation as they say.

Goose the Market is your place for that kind of selection - if you have a specific cheese in mind, they'll also order it for you. Brad Gates Catering in the City Market also has a great, but much smaller, selection of cheeses.

Thanks. This sounds like the place for cheese in the area.
