This is a strange question, but my husband noticed that the bananas were horrible in Il on a job hunt and so I'd like to know if the produce quality and variety I see in So Cal will be different in ID. We eat a lot of peaches, kiwis, grapes, watermelon, stawberries, bananas, apples for the most part.

The quality of bananas will be the same. (He just got some bad ones.) Apples will be close, as most commercially-grown varieties last long and transport well. Kiwis, grapes, and watermelon also are probably similar all over the U.S. The biggest differences will be in peaches and strawberries. Someone from Indianapolis can tell you which of those are grown locally (I'm not there), but I know you are considering other places as well, and this is true wherever you go. For example, in WA you would get wonderful strawberries in June, but good peaches are harder to find.

You might miss the inexpensive (or free) avocados and citrus you can get in California.
