Good to hear that IMPD is having the first recruit class in several years. Putting 40-50 new officers on the street this year is a start but more are needed. At least 50 officers leave the department every year on average.

Considering the crime and murder rate in Indy this should be the mayor's top priority.

I am glad we have sensationalized thread titles with no substance making a comeback.

Is it sensationalized if it's true?

What are we even discussing? Criminals kill each other? They have been doing that since the days of the wild west. Adding cops won't change anything. Homicides make the news because if it bleeds it leads, but what can we discuss on an online forum about that?

This is the OP:

What is adding 50 cops going to do to affect the murder rate? I'd say................nothing.

considering 4 were in one house. the headline IMO is a little misleading. Not like there have been 7 completely random incidents

Criminals kill criminals but criminals also kill bystanders, pizza delivery drivers and convenience store clerks.

Most people would agree that violent crime is a problem in Indy, and more police officers are better than fewer police officers.

How many "bystanders" have been gunned down in the last year?

Look, I get it. But you can't deny this stuff is affecting people's perception of safety in Indy and isn't good for those who want to see Indy attract families and young professionals.
