I have Comcast. Was on a promotion for $30/mo for the ~25 Mbps plan. Now they want $50. Just want to get an idea how that compares to what everyone is paying.

RCN charges $40, $45, and $50 for the first three years of 25 Mbps internet in Allentown. In Philly or NYC they charge that much for 50 Mbps.
You got a good teaser rate. But rates vary wildly from city to city. Without knowing where you live, there is no way to know if you can do better.

In his defense there are parts of Indy served by certain carriers that don't offer service to other parts.

That said, we also have Comcast, though it is stand-alone internet (no cable or phone or anything so no discount). We pay about $60 a month for 25mbps. I think it was $10 less when we had cable through Comcast.

Same here, just internet. ATT Uverse is the only other option for me and their prices don't look great either, not to mention their slower speed.

Yeah, we tried to Uverse but we never had luck getting a good connection through their wireless router we were forced to use instead of our own. We couldn't even connect our laptop from one room away so we switched back to Comcast.

I have AT&T Uverse which a laptop, desk top and 2 google TV boxes run fine on for $36.00 per month I'm a little north of Noblesville. With all connections there will be problems once in a while but I have less problems with the Uverse than any others I've tried.

I have AT&T's highest end of DSL internet I believe, about 12 MBS I think it is, fast enough for me and my online gaming. I pay $35 a month plus a few bucks in tax. Admittedly, I don't live in Indianapolis, but these prices are standard nationwide.
