I will be moving in a few months for a new job @ airport. Any recommendations? I've read Plainfield, Avon, or Greenwood nice. I would like to be near shopping/food areas, not too desolate.

thanks

Avon is really good, I live here and I love it. There are everal apartment options and also homes available for rent. Some apartments in Avon: Linden Square, Steeplechase, Washington Quarters. There are some in Plainfield in the saratoga area, they are probably named Saratoga something.

Plainfield is a really nice and up and coming town there are several apartment choices: Krewson Square, Central Park-Metropolis, Gladden Farms, Stafford Pointe, Saratoga Crossing, Blackthorne, Aberdeene, Crown Plaza most apartments in plainfield average for a 1 bedroom $3-800 depending on what apartment you choose
Plainfield has alot of novelty restaurant choices like Stone Creek,Centro Italian Kitchen, Bellacino's, Cold Stone Creamry, Clauddagh's Irish Pub, Logan's Roadhouse, Red Robins, 96th Street Steakburger, Happy Dragon Chinese Restaurant, Bubba's bar and grill,Wood Creek, Cracker Barrell, The Coachmen,Chicago Hot dogs, Familiga( not sure of name) Italian Restaurant and Comfort zone, and soon to be coming Macaroni & Grill

As for shopping there is plainfield plaza, main street plaza, and lots of other shopping areas near Metropolis( huge outdoor mall that is still under construction even though it opened almost 3yrs ago ( the mall is open))

I am looking for an apartment near the airport, but will only be around on the weekends and would like to live somewhere with a lot of bars/restaurants/clubs/music venues - college scene. This is what I like to do and I like living nearby to avoid sober driver/taxi situations, but am in Pittsburgh right now so not sure on what complexes or neighborhoods to search on the internet.

You might be happier downtown, and then commute to work.

Is anyone familiar with the apartments downtown? My first concern is safety, price.
