My family of four (2 kids age 6 and 8) is looking at moving to the Fishers/Carmel/Noblesville area. My husband and I are both RNs and will be looking for positions at local hospitals. My hubby is more flexible with the position he wants, but I only work Neonatal ICU. I've narrowed down my search to a few hospitals, but my top choice is Community Health North. Is anyone familiar with this hospital and repuatation? Bonus points if you can advise me on the NICU! If this is where I work, where would be the best place for us to live? We would like a safe neighborhood with good schools and a fairly easy commute. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you!

Fishers would be your closest option as far as quick commute with good schools, though keep in mind Community North is in a very congested area. Still, nurse schedules usually don't follow the typical 8-5 crowd so you may not have to worry as much about rush hour traffic.

The Castleton area around Community North isn't a bad area by any means, but I'm not sure how the schools are. Lawrence North is the high school for that area and I've heard is the better of the two Lawrence Township high schools but I'm not sure of elementary schools. If you wanted to do private school, Heritage Christian is also right in that area. It's a good school with pre-K through high school. Not sure the cost.

I don't really know anything about Community itself. All of my experience has been with St. Vincent since my wife works for them. Both of our kids were born at St. Vincent Women's Hospital which at least not too long ago saw more babies born there than any hospital in Indiana. Not sure if that's still the case or not. I know we specifically had our kids there (despite it being a 30 minute drive from Fishers) because of their NICU, which we didn't end up ever needing but was nice to have just in case.

Ischyros,

Thank you for your reply. St. Vincent's is my top choice. I am just not sure about that commute everyday which is why Community North is my top choice. Glad your babies didn't have to go to the NICU. What does your wife do?

She's a nurse tech in the FCU. She also works the overnight shift so from Fishers she's going against traffic both ways. It typically takes her 25-30 minutes to get from our house to the hospital. Obviously that will be a much farther commute from the Fishers area than it would be to Community.
