I'm born and raised on the eastside. I've lived off 38th St between Arlington and Emerson, Brendonway Apts on 56th street(now called the cottages), and now i currently live off 30th and post road.

The eastside can be tricky. The area you're asking about you probably wouldn't want to live there. It's not all bad but then again...there are much better areas in the city. Try somewhere north. I lived on the northeast side near 71st and Graham Rd and loved it. Reasonable rent. Lots of restauraunts. Not nearly as much crime. Friendly people. You're still WITHIN the city limits. Plus you're about 10-15 minutes from Castleton. I loved living on the northeast side.

Now I live off 30th and Post road. I've been here for about 9 years. One thing about the eastside is if you just mind your own biz people will pretty much leave you alone. I've only had 2 incidents of crime happen to me in 9 years. Somebody attempted to break in my townhome while i was there at the time. But I knew the person and what he was coming for so I quickly dealt with that issue afterwards....and other then that....somebody broke into my brother's car and stole his speakers and cd player. I do hear gunshots constantly and people do get in fights, but most of that stuff happens in the late hours of the night when I'm not even going to be outside anyways. On a positive note though, we sit right on the county line. And Greenfield, IN and Cumberland, IN are only a short 10-15 minute drive east of post road. It's much more easy going and it gets more country the further east you go. Alot of people live in Greenfield and can commute downtown or anywhere else easily because I-70 is so close.

That would be a deal breaker for me and I think most people.
