Default Is the east side safe? Parts of it maybe?

I found a house between Arlington and Shadeland ave that sounds perfect, it's just inside 465, and right below 70.

Is that a safe area? Is it close to good shopping? Is the area nice looking?

Any insight would be appreciated.

It's a bit hard to say...there are areas immediately where you have described that have a high-crime reputation, but only a mile away it is much more favorable.

I've lived in Indy all my life and am very familiar with the area. With more specific coordinates information could also be more specific.

Good luck.

My mom grew up in that area. I would advise you not to move in that area. It is not nice looking and I wouldn't call it safe.

I'd avoid that area like the plague.

The area is very unusual. A lot of industrial areas near 70 with older usually single story cheaper houses filling in where there used to be farm type lots with old houses. Not an up and coming area. Probably a lot of blue collar and elderly. I believe it is in the Indpls Public School area.

Even closer to Emerson and Washington area there is a problem developing with crime. My hairdresser lives in Emerson Heights and has been mugged on her street and they are having great difficulty with prostitution.

There are some areas in each where the neighbors work together to clean up their neighborhoods but you are going to have to do the walk around to check the area in depth. These areas cannot be given general quality standard statements.

With the industry, you are going to have to beware of industrial sounds, hazardous material conditions and additional truck traffic on the surface roads.

All the houses I can afford that will actually accept dogs are in not-so-nice areas. I'm starting to get really frustrated with this search.

I hate to say this also but if you expect any and everything in indiapolis to be "close" then i'm sorry. Most people on the east and westside have to drive to the northside, downtown, or greenwood to go to the NICE shopping places. Here you have to drive for at least 10-20 mins to get to where you want to go.
