I'm in the Carmel area and I would like to know where I can drop off some jars of oil and grease I have stored for recycling. I shouldn't hold onto them for very long in case I want my house to explode.

Anywhere in the northern Indianapolis area or southern Hamilton county would do too. Thanks for your help.

You didn't specify what type of oil or grease you have but I do know motor oil can be dropped off with Carmel Utilities if you live in Carmel or are a customer of Carmel Utilities. It's on Rangeline Rd by the Dairy Queen. I don't know if they take grease or other types of oils. You'd have to call them.

Carmel Utilities - Carmel Utilities Household Hazardous

Autozone usually also takes used motor oil for recycling.

Republic Services will take almost anything off your hands for a fee.

You say you're in the Carmel area. If you aren't a Carmel citizen or aren't a Carmel Utilities customer, you can always take stuff to the Hamilton County Household Hazard Waste facility in Noblesville. It is free for all residents of Hamilton County.

I took about 70 quarts to Walmart. Vehicle motor oil I had just collected from DIY oil changes. They have you sign a book and take it out back.

I was actually referring to food grease and cooking oil. Which would explain why it's been so difficult for me to find.
