Can'twait2move. Ok, simmer down. You've made your point. Everyone else, let's try to stay on topic .
If one wants the latino demographics, you can refer to the mothership ( www.city-data.com) for the information.

Hello and im happy to explain why I think Indiana is boring. We to have done all the things you mentioned. I do have to say conner prairie is great but once youv'e been what more is there to see? Im very active with my children we have been everywhere you can imagine...we evan still buy a yearly membership to the zoo but...have you seen other zoos? Ours is so tiny.
My response to the poster was one made of cultural differences and also one made from someone who has traveled a great deal. When you go to other areas example..AZ,CA,FL,TX,NM,GA,IL,etc etc etc you will see many different races and many cultural activities and real museums, art, zoos, waterparks, etc etc oceans..mountains...but this is my opinion only as someone who is very culturally diverse and has friends from all over the world.
I hope I have answered your question totally but if not feel free to ask me anything. *****HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL****

Obviously you're entitled to do whatever you wish, but I can't help but wonder why you blame the location on that sort of infantile namecalling. Some of that sort of ignorance will take place anywhere, and if they are biracial (half African American) you will encounter far FEWER African Americans in the Southwest. Sure, there are Latinos and Native Americans of many different stripes there, but Arizona and New Mexico have tiny black populations. Also I notice you are living in Pendleton. You are aware, of course, that Indianapolis is by now about 40% minority, if not more? That diversity is likely to be on par with what you get in Phoenix, especially since many of the Hispanics consider themselves racially White.
Btw, the public schools in Arizona tend to rate significantly lower than Midwestern states. Food for thought.

Ok so going back to the original topic... I'm Mexican and lived in Indy for over 10 years. I really can honestly say I never received a racist comment in the entire time I was there. I lived in NW Indy (Pike township) and was incredibly spoiled with the Mexican grocery stores, and the multitude of friends from Spanish-speaking countries (particularly Honduras, Venezuela, Argentina, etc). I did see the population of hispanics jump from not seeing any hispanics in a whole week in 1997 to seeing them everywhere in 2007! I wouldn't necessarily recommend Pike though mainly because of the school district. But I also had hispanic friends in Carmel, Zionsville and Fishers.
Oh and by the way, I've been in the DFW area for a year now and I have yet to make a single hispanic friend :S. All in due time I suppose.

Keep in mind that to someone from the northern Midwest "a lot" of Latinos may seem like a paltry amount to someone who is coming from down south. I lived in Indy for 2.5 years before moving back to Texas in March 2008 and it always seemed to me the amount of Hispanics the residents claimed seemed a bit overstated. As in you had to look hard to find them, not just that there were fewer than in Texas, which would be expected.

i'm from LA myself, and have been in indy for the past 3 years, and i can say indiana is NOT diverse from an Angelino's perspective, but it's certainly not the deep south like Hunstville AL. My biggest gripe on Mexican food is that Tito's Taco is not available here And if you never had Tito's Taco on Sepulveda & Washington in Culver City, you haven't had good Mexican food (just like if you've never had In-N-Out burger, you've never had a good hamburger)

Well, I know you have your heart set on Indy. but Fort Wayne has alot of latinos, and a few periodicos tambien. South Side High School is the more concentrated area high school.

The joy of doing things with children IS the returning over and over again! My son learned more and different things at every stage of his childhood.
Who cares if it's a small zoo? It's beautiful, the animals are close, it has awesome children's classes and the kids can get to 'know' specific animals by observing them over and over close up.
Connor Prairie - a 3 year old might not want to learn candle-making, but a 7 year old will. A 10 year old might be interested in the sewing 'technology' of the day or the way the animals were used and cared for.
The Children's Museum has rotating galleries and stunning age-appropriate classes, the Eiteljorg has interesting classes, the State Museum has rotating galleries, the Art Museum has beautiful grounds where kids can picnic and appreciate outdoor art ...
My son is 20 and has been going to them all since he was born. He still enjoys going at times, partly r eminiscing about 'old times' and still learning each and every time he goes! I would say that constant and return visits to all of these locations made him the interesting, compassionate Honors student that he has become as a young man! I'm still not getting you!
