Default Housing near IUPUI campus?

Hello all!

My son will be attending IUPUI next fall. We are in the beginning stages of searching for an apartment for him near the IUPUI campus. Can anyone suggest some safe and affordable areas to live in near the campus. We have looked into campus housing, but since he will be a sophmore when he comes he will need to live in the apartments which seem a bit costly to me. ($800+ monthly) to share with others.

He will be bringing his car so he will be able to commute on his own, but it would be great if he could also make use of public transit in case of bad weather, car problems etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I'm going to IUPUI next fall and have been searching for the past 6 months.

Some of the closest places to check in with are Lockefield Gardens, Gardens of Canal Court, and Canal Square Apartments. Those are the three best out of the city for an IUPUI student and they're also the closest. Lockefield Gardens would be the most affordable, but Canal Square is probably safer.
