Default Brownsburg? Any Info Would Be Great!

I keep reading about all of the crime in Indy. I just noticed a post that mentioned something along the lines of "when downtown cleaned up, the crime had to go somewhere and some of it went to the Northwest side of Indy". Does this include Brownsburg?

We are looking into moving to the area and for commuting purposes, Brownsburg seems to be the best option. When looking at a map, it seems to be a little removed from the main portion of Indy, and that appeals to me. (I generally prefer suburbs and smaller towns as opposed to big cities.) A quiet life is what we're looking for, not a ton of excitement, so it doesn't bother me if people say it is a boring place to live. My main concern is that it is a safe place for my two young children.

Any information on Brownsburg in general would be awesome, and in particular information regarding crime/safety.

Thanks!

I think that when they said that, they meant inside the loop of 465. Once you get outside the loop, and into Hendricks county, things are pretty calm and very safe. You can check on FamilyWatchdog.com for some good info. If you aren't already working with a realtor, I am one, so please let me know. I would love to help you find your new home.

Thank you so much. I was hoping that was the case. Are the schools in Brownsburg good? I have two elementary age children.

As for having a realtor, we really don't know if this move is even going to happen. I was just trying to collect some information beforehand so if it does happen, we wouldn't be going in blind. I appreciate your offer, and if we end up coming to Indy, I will give you a call.

Thank you!

You can check the Indidna department of Education for school info or greatschools.net for stats. You can also check my website for homes, but I need to direct message that to you.

I just thought of another question. Does Brownsburg ever have flooding problems?

I don't know of any areas in Brownsburg that have flooding issues, but that is something that would be disclosed to you when you are looking at homes. Also, in the purchase agreement when you make an offer on a house, there is a section that says you MAY back out of the contract if the home is in a flood plain.

Thanks! I don't know why, but flooding in the midwest just occured to me and that is the last thing I want to deal with!

I am really getting excited about this possiblity! Hopefully all will work out and we will be on our way soon.

What are the gas prices like in Indiana right now? We're in Utah and it is $3.05/gallon. My in-laws are in Michigan and they're paying $3.50/gallon. I'm already dreading the summer when they always go up.
