Default How do you like your Ryland or Pulte home in Fishers?

Any info on these home builders would be great!

Thanks!

Pulte builds the Del Webb homes in Britton Falls. We visited when they had their grand opening and then visited friends who built there last weekend.

Notes: I was unimpressed with the design of the subdivision, the tiny tiny lots, the restrictions, lack of privacy, etc. They are going to be building for years until finished and have already lowered the price. So if you bought last year, you are in the hole.

I did not like the plastic siding with no support underneath. You could push it in and it looked and felt cheap. I do like their windows however.

I was unimpressed with the total sameness of the whole thing. Pulte thinks nothing of doing the same house over and over and over. Only slight changes to the front so you seem to drive down a row of the same houses. They have cutesy additions like a gold tone plate in the sidewalk to the front door of the house with their name, Del Webb, on it which I thought was pretty stupid.

They have a lot of options to get the "model" look so dont be surprised if your final price is no where near the base price advertised.

They are great marketers so be careful. It is easy to fall for the models because they are so carefully decorated and colorful. Remember yours will probably be beige.

You'll be hard pressed to find a production builder that you can't make the same complaints about the houses / neighborhoods...that's just what they are building now days. As far as comparrison to other production builders, Pulte & Ryland are not the best, but they are up there in my opinion. They build a good quality house, although it is still a vinyl village house.

I personally prefer the newer Hansen & Horn subdivisions. They are actually building houses that are diverse in color (including Blue's, Yellow's, and Red's) as well as architecually different. Hard to fing that in a production builder now days.

Pulte and Ryland are national production builders, so you won't necessarily get the customization you would with Hanson & Horn (whose homes we really liked!) or Drees. The other thing I liked about Hanson & Horn is even though they are the only builder in a neighborhood, the homes don't all look alike (like Pulte and Ryland).

Does Hanson & Horn build in Fishers? I looked at their website and was under the impression they didn't. Also, I noticed you listed Drees. Are they a good home builder. I would love a custom home, but the prices are a bit steep. We want something under $300k, but the custom homes I have found are a lot more. We are coming to the area at the end of the month to look at homes. If you have any suggestions on neighbor hoods to look at please let me know. Thanks!

I can't think of any H&H neigborhoods in Fishers, but they have a couple in Noblesville. Drees makes a nice home as well. The problem with finding a builder to build a $300k custom home is most of the custom builders around here are building in higher priced neighborhoods becasuse that is where the demand is. All the affordable land for subdivisions gets swallowed up by the production builders and turned into vinyl villages.

Hanson & Horn will build on your own lot. Give them a call. They have a nice community going up in Noblesville ... Chapel Woods is it? Off Greenfield Ave.

Yes H&H will build on your own lot..I think any of the production builders will do the same thing. In addition to Union Chapel, there is a H&H neighborhood up around Allisonville Rd (where it ends and meets up with 37) and one on Hague Rd (close to the boat ramp / wolfies / the levee), I don't recall the names of these neighborhoods, but they should be maped on their website.

I like the Pultes in Grey Eagle, they are a good value and it is a nice neighborhood. Don't know the Rylands. We liked Cherry Creek also. There are new neighborhoods going up by Pulte now. The Britton Falls neighborhood is designed to be smaller and and on tiny lots as it is a no maintenance over 50 neighborhood, so would not be offering large yards. The club house is very nice there, and offers lots of amenities. If I were retired, I might do that.

I know this thread is a few months old but I wanted to chime in about Hansen & Horn. I went by their Avon community this weekend (I live in the Davis Homes community down the road that was just taken over by Westport Homes) and I was blown away by the quality of their homes. The attention to detail and diversity of their home designs was a breath of fresh air. 12" on center exterior walls, basements standard on the ranch models, non-plastic siding, OSB board, etc. The list could go on and on.

I paid $140k for my Davis home. The H&H home I want would be $300k. You get what you pay for!
