Suggestions for checking out Indy?
My dh and I will be flying out to Indy in a few weeks. We are still in the interviewing phase, but will have a little time to check out the area (just in case everything works out). We are most interested in the Brownsburg area due to the close proximity to dh's workplace, as well as safety, schools, etc...
We will have only a few hours to drive around the Brownsburg/west Indy area. What places should we make sure to check out? Any neighborhoods or areas to avoid? This will be our first time to Indy and we would like to make the most of it (especially since we are so limited in time).
Thanks!

I would suggest that you drive around as much as possible to get to know the area. Check out houses on the 'net that interest you and are in your price range, then drive around those neighborhoods to see if you would like them. I would also check out Avon if I were you.

We don't want to be too far away from my husband's workplace. It is already a 20 minute drive (according to Mapquest) from Brownsburg. Avon is farther away...so for that reason alone I don't know if we would consider Avon.
Funny story...I knew that my dad lived in Indiana when he was a kid, but I never knew where. Yesterday when we told my parents about this, he said that he lived in Danville. It's a small world...

If you have any more questions about the area, please just let me know, I'm happy to help as much as I can.
Wow, you can visit your dad's old stomping grounds!

I do have a question. I don't know if I'm understanding this correctly. When a realtor website shows a home and gives the property taxes, is that billed once or twice a year?

The web sites should be showing SEMI-annual taxes, which would be billed twice a year. If it says your taxes are $700, that is for 6 months.

Ok, that's what I thought. They seemed to be too low for people to be claiming "high taxes"...unless it was only part of a year.
Thank you for confirming that!
