Smile good living on Mass ave?

Hello. I am a 23 year old single guy, who like a majority of others on here am considering a move to Indy. I would be coming from Terre Haute and am wanting more of a big city feel as my original home and family are in the Columbus, OH area. Ive been in contact with a friend who lives in the circle city and they suggested looking at Mass Ave, N. Jersey St, Indiana, and Alabama. I was hoping to get more input on those specific areas...close to dowtown but off the beaten path.

On Mass Ive heard of the Davlan and Clifford Apts.

12th and Alabama ive heard of the Madison Apts.

Jersey and Indiana i havent found anything

Something safe, relatively quiet, 1br, no more than about $500 mo.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I think you are priced out of these areas of downtown. I was with you until $500. Good luck.

You might check out craigslist.com.

You might find a little cheaper prices for a whole house or apt east of downtown around Woodruff Place or Brookside Park area nice renovated houses, neighborhood is changing for the better-about 5 min from downtown.

I live on Arsenal near Woodruff and 500 wont get you over here. A half double rents for 850-1200 and the houses start at 950 and go up a 3 bdrm rental two doors from me just rented at 1600 a month.

Check out van rooy properties. I know they have a lot of rentals available throughout downtown, from cheap to luxury. Be careful though, as not all of their properties are in the best of areas, despite looking decent from the exterior. Rule of thumb is the closer to the circle, the better. So, if you had a choice between a place at 10th and alabama vs. 14th, pick 10th. There's kind of a donut effect - safe areas in center of downtown, surrounded by a ring that I wouldn't want to live in, which is surrounded by perfectly fine neighborhoods.
