Sounds like Avon to me! It's not really in Indy, but a western suburb. I'm a realtor here, and I love it. You can be at the grocery store in 5 minutes or go shopping, out to eat, to movies, etc. Or you can be downtown within 25 minutes. There are nice parks, great schools, and it is a safe, growing community. If you'd like more info or help with your homes search, please call me or send me a direct message.

So Avon...what else do you know about that area? Any local online newspapers I can look at, or photos? I definately like that it is so close to the speedway. How is crime there?

Crime is very low here, there are a few things of course, but no place is 100% free from crimes. You can check out the Hendricks County Fryler online, that is our local paper. I think their site is flyergroup.com

Great! Thanks for your help. I'll let you know if I have any questions. The houses look very cheap there too! Older but cheap! Any new communities in Avon?

There are a lot of new communities. My neighborhood was built in 1999-2003, there are builders putting up new construction right now, and there are older homes as well. Basically, anything you could want. There are all price ranges too. You could find a perfectly decent home for under $100,000 up to grand estates in the million dollar range. There are brick homes, or vinyl villages, or mixes.

Since I won't be moving till April or March of next year, when would you suggest I start looking for a home? At least 3 - 4 months in advance?

If I were you, I would try to get to know the area as much as possible, maybe come to Indy to check it out, drive through neighborhoods, look at homes online, etc. Get a general feel for what you are looking for, and where.
Then, when you get closer to the time you want to move, you will already have a clear idea of what you are looking for. You will just have to check what is on the market. The preparation will make it much easier for you when the time comes. I would say to start looking at the area in general terms now, and then start your home search in earnest about 3 months out. |

Good idea. We'll be planning to make a trip up there in a month or two! I'll keep your email handy in case we can meet up to discuss some things.
