Default need safe low-income housing in good neighborhood

My husband will be attending dental school and we will be living off loans. We are not familiar with the indy area at all but we know we would prefer to live outside of indianapolis but still close. We have 2 daughters and one will attend elementary school so we want a good school for her. We need apartments that are low-income/subsidized and preferrably newer. We don't want to live by any junkies or crazy people. Can anyone help. We have less than two months to find a place! I hear good things about Avon.

There are several apartments in Avon, but I don't know if they have low income subsidies. The ones I can think of are Linden Square Apts, Avon Creek, Washington Quarters, and I think the other one is Steeplechase. You might also look at MIBOR.com, look under rentals and see if there is anything that might work for you.
