This is a one off anecdotal experience, and you weren't even the one making hiring decisions.

I know about as many IU grads as I do Purdue grads working tech jobs in Indy. The only people openly favoring Purdue grads are Purdue alums.

The FAQ now states the following: "IUPUC, an education center that IUPUI administers, is home to the mechanical engineering program, which grants Purdue University degrees. Working groups will determine next steps with regard to this program."

Down on the Columbus campus is a building for STEM type education. It houses the Purdue Polytechnic Columbus location. I believe Ivy Tech may also have some labs in the building as well. I looked at the Polytechnic website and they also offer a Mechanical Engineering course of study. Sounds like we will just have to wait to see what the working groups decide. If cost savings and streaming lining is a goal, I would say IUI ends up still over IUC. The Purdue ME degree goes away and if one wants to study ME, they would just sign up for the Purdue Polytechnic course of study.

I saw this article on social media.

https://swimswam.com/iu-and-pui-are-...st-natatorium/

While it is a sports related website, it reported some general information on the split. When discussing Purdue students playing for IUI, part of Daniels response was, "We think many of them will only be here for a year studying and working."

This kinda goes with what he said at the press conference about the Purdue Indy program maybe being more like going to school with a stronger connection to an internship, co-op, or something similar.

Purdue has a better program so fresh out of college they are preferred. After a few years of experience it won't matter. You criticize anecdotal experience but then use anecdotal experience of your own.

Some update to the Columbus campus concerning the reorganization:

https://www.therepublic.com/2022/11/...s-iu-columbus/

The campus will likely be known as IU-Columbus, but still under the IU-Indianapolis administration. The article states that the only Purdue degree at IUPUC is mechanical engineering. Sounds like Purdue may just move this degree track over to Purdue Polytechnic.

Another note about IUPUI, there was an official groundbreaking for the new med school a couple of weeks back. It will be part of the new Methodist Hospital complex being built.

So there has been some movement on the Purdue side of things. Originally, the idea was the Purdue footprint would be a small scale. In one interview, it was talked as if not many Purdue students would likely be involved in IU-Indy athletics because they would only be in Indy for a year or two. Now it seems that maybe Purdue wants a little larger footprint than just one building. Sounds like they are wanting a handful of buildings and possibly their own dorm.
