Question Cab fares?

Hiya!

Hey, how bad are the cab fares in Indy? I have to go from the airport to 1099 N Meridian St. I'm not a money guy don't carry it with me unless I have to. I like to slide my debit card! A ballpark figure is cool, over estimate please!

Next dumb question. I don't smoke. Quit over three years ago, best thing I ever did. Although my esteemed other half still does and I nag her every day to quit. But, what does a pack of brand name smokes go for in Indy. In NY (outside of New York City) they're about $6-7 and change a pack.

Taxi question is more important! I'm flying out on Monday! YEAH!!!

If I am not mistaken, it WAS $3.25-$3.50 base rate plus $0.40 per mile. I think the city approved a rate hike recently; not 100% sure. My old neighbor was a cab driver; but he moved last winter. Anyway, one thing I do know for sure, if you are catching the cab from the airport, there is a minimum rate of $15 regardless how far you travel from the airoort. The route you are taking to what I believe is called the Landmark Center building is about 12 miles from the airport. Using what I believe is the old rate, that would put your fare at around $8. Due to the $15 minimum, you would pay $15.

My guess was like $50 for the ride. I could be really wrong but that's my guess. I went to yellow cab web site and they had $2/mi & $.40 wait time. So the $15 initail and 12 miles at $2/mi for $24. I over guess 20 minutes for lights and stuff so 20 at $.40 for $8. Add it up it's like $47 I'
m guessing here. I'm in Albany NY we don't have meters, everything is a flat rate by zones. I know it's their job .. but at $47 .. u get no soup! Err, I mean tip. Shoot .. i have to eat too!

Nobody knows what a pack smokes for for in Indy?

The $15 I was talking about is a minimum fare, not the initial. Also, from the airport to the building at the address you gave, is all interstate; Unless your cabbie goes some weird way through downtown. The building is within a block of the exit to Meridian Street from I-65.

Also; per Broad Ripple Village Taxi's website, the city's authorized rates are $3.25 plus $.40 for every 1/5th mile, or 2 bucks a mile (this where I bonked on the first post, I ALWAYS forget that it is by 1/5th mile and not whole miles). At 12 miles, you are looking at paying at least $24; plus $.40/minute for waiting and an additional $.60 bucks per passenger.

Taxi Ride Fares

Sorry, don't smoke.
