Little Rock, AR is slow-paced, outright religious, and racist with low-quality museums and art center with no professional team bases. University of Arkansas Razorback Football Team stinks; their games are 3 hours away in rural Northwest Arkansas town of Fayetteville, which is silly since Little Rock is supposed to be the hub of this state. The Univ. of AR should be built here not in Fayetteville. The only special thing about Little Rock is the fact that we have Bill Clinton's Presidential Library here since he is a native of Arkansas.
You see why you shouldn't be so negative about Indy. If you don't like Indy, move. If not, just keep your negative attitudes to yourself because there will always be Hoosiers around who happen to think Indy is the Heaven on Earth! Go, Indy and the Colts!

Maybe you should stop being so negative about Little Rock, because you are lucky you're not living in a third world sh*thole. If you don't like Little Rock, move.
See that? It works both ways. I don't like Indy because it is slow-paced, too religious, and has too many racists.

Indy is doing a great job of getting more big city amenties and improving the economy slowly and both Pacers and Colts boost Indy's image nationally.
Although Indy might be conservative and lacking in diversity, there are cities nearby such as Chicago, St. Louis, Louisville, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Detroit that you can easily take short trips for whatever Indy doesn't have.

You know, it's funny, when I first browsed this thread at length, I've noticed that it's become a magnet for anti-Indy people to take cheap shots, saying things like "Only people from Indiana like Indiana", etc. when all the neutral or pro-Indy people did was defend their town.
It astounds me how people can be so down on a place with so much going for it. Part of the appeal of a city like Indianapolis is that it is a "mixed bag" of sorts, with something for everyone. The facts speaks for themselves: new development in the downtown areas, good job outlook, high in-migration from other areas.
Thousands of people looking to move to cities like Indianapolis read threads just like this every day, why would people want to intentionally fill the forum with negativity and turn prosepective Hoosiers off to what could potentially be a very nice to live?
I'm not saying bow-down and kiss ass, because there are issues in that city that require serious attention/reform (public transit for one), but I think this place would operate better as an outlet to showcase Indy's strengths rather than weaknesses.

Absolutely not true. I work for a national call center and when we get customers from the Indianapolis area, they are by far the rudest most vulgar people I have ever dealt with. They scream so loud, curse like no one's business and have absolutely no respect for the person on the other end of the phone.

Maybe you bring that out of them? Or, maybe they're tired and irritable after they've gone through numerous prompts (Press "1" for English, etc.) when all they want is a human being, and then they're greeted by your positive self. Heck of a first post. Way to contribute. Please troll elsewhere.
Sorry, DG......Couldn't help myself.

It's a problem all over this board, especially in the General U.S. and City v. City forums. Nothing more than forums for folks to trash other cities and states.

I apologize for the bad experiences you've had, because everyone deserves to be treated with respect.
NOW, having said that, if every person who has called you from Greater Indpls. was as how you described, then you're either being dishonest and applying a few examples to everyone who lives in that area, or you haven't dealt with very many customers.

To add to the fray . . .
A couple years ago my wife and I left Indy for a job in Chattanooga, TN -- considered the most progressive and lovely city in the state. But at this time we're doing everything we can to move back.
Indy is a great city that has so much going for it, I'm not really sure how anyone could trash it. We miss it terribly! Here is what we like:
• Miles and miles of bikeable and walkable interconnected trails like the Monon and central canal path
• A really nice variety of restaurants, shopping and groceries
• The lowest cost of living of any major city
• Very little traffic for its size
• Nice museums (largest children's museum in the country, beautiful art museum with hundreds of acres of lovely landscaped grounds)
• Good sports teams
• A vibrant and successful downtown
• Lots of different areas with different feels . . . liberal to conservative and old to new
• A good symphony, opera, and theater
• Close to other major cities like Chicago (3 hrs), Cincinnati (2 hrs) and Louisville (2 hrs)
• three reservoirs for wet recreation
• Largest municipal park in the country (Eagle Creek, over 1 mil acres I think)
So we can't wait to get back to Indy. Its a good city with a lot going for it. I think in any city people can experience negative people or things that impact them, but on the whole Indianapolis offers a lot. The city planning of the 1980s really paid off, Indianapolis is a lovely town.

I love what you said about Indianapolis Dasmarian.
I do have to correct you about Eagle Creek Park though. It's no where near being over 1M acres. Eagle Creek is around 6,000 acres
