Honestly, I do not know any fellow employees that live in the Avon area. However, I am always seeing cars that have the Lilly parking tags in the mirror in the Avon or the surrounding suburbs. I think a lot of people tend to live in the South Side of Indianapolis (Greenwood, Beech Grove, etc). It's going to be tough buying a house ANYWHERE that is sure to be profitable in 2 to 3 years - the way the market is.

Having worked at Lilly previously and nearly returning, the Indy housing market is mostly flat with a dip right now.
I know of 6 couples who have either moved to Indy for Lilly or took house hunting trips and Avon is not an area often mentioned (Does not mean it is bad, just not mentioned).
Often Carmel, Fishers, Zionsville, and Meridian Kessler come up. If you know you will sell in 2-3 year either buy in an established area or just rent.

I sold mine after 10 years and not only did not make any money on it, I lost over $15,000. I guess at least it sold.

Silly me- I compare every housing market to my hometown of So.Caliornia !!
Does anyone think renting is a better option ? Lilly is very good at paying for closing costs when promoted.

I'm an ex-Lilly and still have friends from Lilly that live in Avon. A fun fact about them though, they don't have kids . I don't think that means Avon schools are bad but I would say they're probably not perceived to be as good as Carmel, Zionsville or Fishers/Noblesville. Having said that, I like the drive up north better than going out to Avon.

Rental
I didn'd see the previous posts before I replied- Tough desicisions. In order to go forward on the track to become a Territory manager My DH has to put in time at the corporate office in Indy for a couple of years. Can you rent homes in nice neighborhoods in a good school district ?

Oh heavens yes! Lots of homeowners are putting their homes on the rental market since they can't seem to sell. Happened to my former neighbors in Fishers.

Transfer to Lilly
I have lived in Indy for about 13 years now, and I use to work at Eli Lilly. We currently have two homes that we are looking to lease or do a lease to purchase if you have interest please let me know. One is in Fishers, which is either a straight shot down 37 to downtown or 465 to 70 it took me about 20-25 minutes to get to lilly everyday. We also have a property by Eagle Creek which is 10-15 minutes from downtown. Both are executive homes with close to 3000sq ft. I have been where you are at so happy to help. If you have children I would not suggest living downtown. My son goes to private school Heritage Christian and it has been a wonderful environment for him. Let me know if you would like additional information. Thanks!
