Driver's License Reciprocity - FL to Indiana
I was wondering how tough it is to get an Indiana license coming in from out of state. I'm a former resident, and I know that the BMV isn't the easiest bunch of folks to deal with...
I have all the documents necessary for getting my license, but I guess I was wondering if you have to take the written test if you're coming in to the state with a current valid out of state license. I'm sure I could take it and pass without a problem, but it just sounds like a real PITA to do it.
If this is something you've had experience with, I would really appreciate hearing about it so I'm prepared.
Thanks!
RM

You will have to take the written test. Perhaps this thread can be of assistance to you:

I got my first driver's license in Indiana in ... 19 ... 84 ... sigh. The test was a joke. But now, it's a lot harder. You definitely have to study now. And you have to accumulate points via various forms of ID. It's a royal PITA now. The one nice thing is that you can go to any branch to get your license. They aren't open on Mondays, so be aware of that. You can actually make an appointment now too.

Well, I already have my "stack 'o' documents" for my ID, but knowing that I have to take the written test I'm going to hold off for a little bit before I go. I had an appointment in Brownsburg tomorrow but I cancelled it.
I have a motorcycle endorsement as well, so I guess I have to take that test, too. At least looking at the BMV web site it appears that I do.
Dang.
Thanks!

You also get your license on the spot. The test has 50 questions 35 are mult choice you cna miss 6, 15 are sign recognition you can miss 2. Indiana has no reciprocity with other states

You can miss 6? Are you sure??? I didn't think it was that many. I remember when it was a 20 question test ... the good old days!

Yes, In fact my wife missed 6 on her first try and since she had no idea about the sign recognition part she missed 5 and failed. She went 6 and 2 wrong the second time and passed. And from what I can gather by the drivers manual the test is a bit of a challenge
