political conventions are cash cows for cities that host them.

I was thinking more along the lines of keeping Indiana blue, beyond that, I have no issue with convention.

Chicago hosted the GOP convention in 1996 (most painful week of city living in my life) ... nothing changed as a result.

As much as I'd love to see Indiana stay blue, or at least a lovely shade of purple ... the GOP in this state won't let it happen again. The Republicans got lazy and complacent and just took it for granted that Indiana would go McCain (they didn't anticipate the split voters, Obama/Daniels). You'll see, in the next 2 years a new and more aggressive, less spoiled rotten party.

But it will be interesting to see what happens with the next Gov. race. I'm not sure Becky Skillman (who?) will have enough to take over for Mitch.

Indiana being "blue" is a one-off kind of deal.

I lost a little respect for Indiana after they went blue... a lot of people got out to vote this time that never bothered to before; unfortunately, they didn't bother to learn about what they were voting for!

If they were anything like me, they voted blue just to see Indiana blue on the electorial map; that way there will be no question remaining that Indiana is in fact Colts country! Even NWI is included in the Colts Blue Indiana!

Moved from Indiana in June and haven't found any Colts fans here in S.C.... in fact, a lot of people here don't know where Indiana is. I took my daughter to a Dr. for a school physical and he said, "Indiana... oh yeah, St. Louis is there".

I believe you can find uninformed voters in both camps. That Indiana went for Obama while overwhelmingly re-electing an incumbent Republican governor speaks well, in my opinion, to the sophistication of Hoosier voters.
