That is suprising. I thought since Indianapolis is a city of 800,000 people and is a little bigger than San Francisco, I thought people would like it more than what people are saying hear. The way it sounds hear that Indianpolis is just a blah and ok city with no great nightlife scene.

dont let a few posters fool you indy has a great nightlife scene especially in Broad Ripple-Butler-Tarkington. Indy isnt a blah to me it is Americas 12th largest cities yet it barely has even remotely close to what other major cities in america have in terms of architecture,culture.etc... and i like it that way. just a simple major American City filled with mostly blue collar americans just living there lives.

1) Indianapolis is not bigger than San Francisco
2) Who mentioned a nightlife scene? BTW, it seemed fine to me when I lived there.

Speaking of buildings, is the soldiers' and sailors' monument still there in the circle?

Very true when considering the entire Metropolitan Statistical Area. Indy is the 12th or 13th largest city only because Unigov in 1970 greatly expanded the city's borders.

I supposed it was. And, there was a beautiful library building. We visited there often. I think I heard they'd built a new one now. Of course, the park of rides is gone. Was that Broadripple or Riverside? I've forgotten. But, I know it closed.

An addition to the main library downtown opened last year. The original part of the main library was restored as part of the project. As for the park rides, I believe you're referring to Broad Ripple Park. And, yes, those rides closed a long time ago, unfortunately.

The carousel from BR park is now in the Children's Museum for all to enjoy, and do we ever!
They also put the sally pony ride from the old Atlas Supermarket in the CM too!

I grew up in South Bend and have been to Indianapolis many times and I now live in Denver. Indianapolis is in no way shape or form bigger than San Francisco. It isn't bigger than Atlanta, don't let the city populations fool you. Boundaries in a city are ambiguous cutoff points and don't mean much of anything in determining how large a city truly is. The metropolitan area is a much better gauge of a cities size and power. Are you telling me that Phoenix, AZ is twice the size of Boston, or that Omaha, NE is bigger than Minneapolis, Miami, Cincy, or St. Louis? All that being said, Indy gets a bad rap, it is a nice city that can give you a large city feel downtown or a suburban sprawl feel most cities now experience, and you can be in the "country" in a relatively short amount of time. It's decent enough.
