I lived there for a while and thought it was OK. The only really negative aspect that I could find during my stay was the air quality in the area. I have allergies and they got pretty bad during my stay.
People wise it was alright too especially when compared to my current home of Kansas City. The transplants from Kentucky and Tennessee were easy to get along with and most of the locals as well.
All in all I'd have to say that I would live there again though I think I would find a community outside of Marion county where it is likely I'll have less industrial pollution to breathe which impacts my sinus condition.

I think it's the friendliest city in the Midwest and has a strong economy. It is also home to the holy grail of auto racing, Indy Motor Speedway.
On the bad end, it has a huge amount of murders for its size (150+ a year , 3X more than Louisville and 2X more than Cincy), and the terrain around it is very flat and boring.

Eh. I don't think there's anything too special about it, to be honest.

Why isn't there a "Never been there" option?

It's not a bad city - I've passed through once. seemed nice to me. I wouldn't want to live in Indiana though, or Illinois for that matter.

Couldn't vote as "never been there" wasn't an option. I don't think about Indianapolis, but it reminds me of One Day At A Time

I love Indy, but even I have to admit that it's a regional draw. Indy is not a "destination" city. It's a great place to be from and to live in. Otherwise, it's only a destination for sports nuts, of which I am one, therefore it works for me.
